Bought some markers. I’ve been obsessed with them!!!

I have a pretty solid habit of drawing every day. Lately I’ve been focusing on doing lose compositions as a form of concept art for world-building.

With these I usually don’t have anything specific in mind. My process is to just allow the image or organically come together from some initially chaotic/spontaneous marks.

I’m more of the “stream of consciousness” type of artist, rather than a printer of some mental image.

About a year ago I did this tribute painting for a young man named Daunte Wright, who was unfortunately killed by an officer.

These kinds of deaths are always haunting because the faces of those who are lost always remind me of someone I know. 😢

When I see Daunte I see the face of my oldest brother. And I also see my mentee.

It’s truly sad that my city has such a reputation of these unnecessary killings.
